Colette has been belly dancing since 1997 when she first attended classes with Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance (FCBD). She was immediately intrigued by the group improvisational aspect of the dance and the attention to body mechanics and moving in a healthy way. She was invited to join the professional troupe at the start of 2001.
During her tenure with FCBD, Colette was able to take part in numerous shows and videos, including “San Francisco Beledi” and “Tribal Basics, Vol. 7″, and two performances in the renowned San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. She was a teacher at the FCBD studio and had the opportunity to travel internationally to teach FCBD workshops. Additionally, Colette has experience dancing at restaurants, private parties, and festivals such as Rakkasah, Tribal Fest and Tribal Quest Northwest.
In 2008, Colette established Scarlet Thistle Studio in Hood River, OR as her home base for teaching. The following year she founded Scarlet Thistle Belly Dance, a dance troupe with her students and fellow belly dance enthusiasts. With her troupe, Colette has performed at festivals in Seattle, Portland, and Eugene as well as local Hood River area events.
Her goal is to continue to develop as a dancer and to inspire others to discover how dance and creativity can drastically improve your life.
